นิทานก่อนนอนแสนอบอุ่น กับเรื่องราว ณ หมู่บ้านแห่งหนึ่ง มีมังกรตัวใหญ่แต่ใจดีตัวหนึ่งที่ต้องการเป็นเพื่อนกับมนุษย์ วันหนึ่งนักรบคนหนึ่งจึงตัดสินใจช่วยเหลือมังกรตัวนี้ในการสานสัมพันธ์กันมนุษย์
ที่หมู่บ้านเชิงเขาแห่งหนึ่ง พ่อของเด็กชายฮาโลกำลังเล่าเรื่องเจ้ามังกรตัวร้ายให้ลูกชายฟังด้วยน้ำเสียงตื่นเต้นว่า
“ฮาโล ฮาโล ลูกรู้มั้ยว่าหมู่บ้านของเรามีมังกรดุร้ายฤทธิ์เดชมากมายอาศัยอยู่ในถ้ำบนภูเขา”
“จริงเหรอฮะพ่อ แล้วมังกรที่พ่อว่าตัวมันใหญ่มากมั้ยฮะ”
“แน่นอน ตัวมันใหญ่มาก แล้วก็น่ากลัวมาก มันชอบพ่นไฟทำร้ายผู้คน แถมยังทำลายเมืองทั้งเมืองราบคาบ”
“แล้วพ่อเคยเห็นมังกรตัวจริงๆรึยังครับ”
“แหะๆ พ่อไม่เคยเห็นตัวมันจริงๆ หรอก ได้ยินแต่คนเขาพูดบอกต่อๆกันมา แค่ฟังคนพูดพ่อก็กลัวแล้ว ถ้าเห็นตัวจริงเข้าพ่อคงเป็นลมไปซะตรงนั้นเลย”
ฮาโลตัดสินใจจะไปดูมังกรให้เห็นกับตาตัวเอง วันรุ่งขึ้นเขาจึงเดินขึ้นไปบนภูเขา
ในที่สุดเขาก็ได้พบกับมังกรจริงๆ นั่งอยู่ที่หน้าถ้ำ ท่าทางของเจ้ามังกรดูยิ้มแย้มใจดี ไม่น่ากลัวเหมืิอนที่พ่อบอกเลย เขาจึงยิ้มและกล่าวทักทายมังกร
“สวัสดีเจ้ามังกร ข้าชื่อฮาโล”
“โห มีคนกล่าวทักทายข้าก่อนด้วย ดีใจจัง”
♫ เกิดเป็นมังกรตัวโต๊โต ใครๆ ก็คิดว่าฉันน่ากลัว ออกไปที่ไหนใครเห็นตัว ก็พากันหนีไปหมดเลย เกิดเป็นมังกรตัวโต๊โต ทำไมต้องคิดว่าฉันน่ากลัว โอ้ใครจะรู้ว่าแท้จริง ฉันเป็นมังกรตัวใหญ่ใจดี ฟูมฟูมฉันพ่นไฟฟู่ๆ อันที่จริงฉันกลัวความมืด เขี้ยวเล็บแหลมคมรอบตัว เอาไว้ใช้ตัดหูบวบ ฟูมฟูมฉันพ่นไฟฟู่ๆ อันที่จริงฉันหนาวต่างหาก โอ้ใครจะรู้ว่าแท้จริง ฉันเป็นมังกรตัวใหญ่ใจดี ใครจะรู้ว่าแท้จริง ฉันเป็นมังกรตัวใหญ่ใจดี ♫
“นี่ถามจริงๆ เจ้าไม่กลัวข้าเหรอ”
“ไม่อ่ะ เจ้าดูตลก ใจดีออก ไม่เห็นน่ากลัวเหมือนที่ใครๆเขาพูดกันเลย”
“เหอๆๆๆ ในที่สุดข้าก็เจอคนที่ไม่กลัวข้าแล้ว เจ้ารู้มั้ยข้าต้องทนเหงาอยู่ตัวคนเดียวมานานนับปีแล้วอ่ะ”
“ก็ชาวบ้านเขากลัวเจ้าน่ะสิ เขาเล่าว่า เนิ่นนานมาแล้ว มีมังกรใจร้ายตัวหนึ่งชอบพ่นไฟอาละวาด จนเมืองทั้งเมืองราบคาบ โชคดีมีอัศวินผู้กล้ามาปราบมังกรจนสิ้นฤทธิ์”
“ไม่ใช่ข้าแน่ ข้าไม่เคยคิดทำร้ายใคร จริงๆแล้วน่ะ ข้าพร้อมจะเป็นเพื่อนกับทุกคนต่างหาก”
“งั้นข้าก็พร้อมจะเป็นเพื่อนกับเจ้า แล้วเจ้าล่ะ ยอมเป็นเพื่อนกับข้ามั้ย”
“ยอมสิ ข้าอยากมีเพื่อนมานานแล้ว”
♫ เพื่อน อยู่ด้วยกันทั้งวันไม่มีเหงา (ปล่อยให้เหงาตั้งนาน) เพื่อน ทำให้ชีวิตเราไม่น่าเบื่อ (เล่นกันทั้งวันสนุกไม่เบื่อเลย เย้) เพื่อน เกิดอะไรไม่ดีก็ช่วยเหลือ (มาเรามาช่วยกันมาช่วยกัน เห) เพื่อน มีอะไรก็เอามาแบ่งกัน หากไม่มีเธอกับฉันด้วยกันแล้วเราจะอยู่ยังไง จะทำอะไรๆ ก็คงไม่ดี จะกิน จะนอน จะบิน จะเดิน ไม่มีเธออยู่ตรงนี้ ก็คงไม่มีความหมาย เพื่อน ถ้าหากว่าเราไม่มีก็คงเหงา (ใช่ คงเหงาแย่เลย เนาะ) ถ้าไม่มีเพื่อน ฮ่าฮ่า ก็คงไม่มีอะไรมาแบ่งกัน หากไม่มีเธอกับฉันด้วยกันแล้วเราจะอยู่ยังไง จะทำอะไรๆ ก็คงไม่ดี จะกิน จะนอน จะบิน จะเดิน ไม่มีเธออยู่ตรงนี้ ก็คงไม่มีความหมาย เพื่อน ถ้าหากว่าเราไม่มีก็คงเหงา ถ้าไม่มีเพื่อน ก็คงไม่มีอะไรมาแบ่งกัน ก็คงไม่มีอะไรมาแบ่งกัน ♫
ทั้งสองจึงตกลงเป็นเพื่อนกัน ต่างคนต่างหยอกล้อเล่น พูดคุยกันอย่างสนุกสนานเหมือนกับรู้จักกันมานาน แปปเดียวเวลาก็ล่วงเลยไปถึงตอนเย็น ฮาโลจึงลาเจ้ามังกรกลับบ้าน แต่ระหว่างทางนั้นเอง เขาอดที่จะเล่าเรื่องเจ้ามังกรเพื่อนใหม่ให้ชาวบ้านฟังไม่ได้ จนเรื่องรู้ถึงคนทั้งเมือง ทุกคนกลัวว่ามังกรจะอาละวาดพ่นไฟเผาเมืองอีก จึงประกาศหาคนมาปราบมังกร ไม่นานก็ได้อัศวินผู้กล้าชื่อจอร์จมารับอาสา
จอร์จเป็นผู้กล้าที่ปราบคนชั่วและปิศาจร้ายมามากมาย เขามีอาวุธคู่กายเป็นทวนใหญ่แข็งแกร่ง จอร์จรีบบอกให้ฮาโลพาเขาไปหาเจ้ามังกร ระหว่างทางไปที่ถ้ำบนภูเขา ฮาโลพยายามอธิบายให้จอร์จฟังว่าเจ้ามังกรเป็นคนจิตใจดี ไม่เคยคิดจะทำร้ายใคร
ไม่นานนัก ฮาโลก็พาจาร์จเดินมาถึงถ้ำที่เจ้ามังกรอยู่
“นี่เจ้ามังกร อย่ามัวแต่นั่งแอบอยู่ในรูสิ รีบออกมาสู้กับข้าเลยเร็วๆ”
“ฮือๆๆ ข้าไม่สู้กับใครทั้งนั้นน่ะ ฮือๆๆๆ ข้าอยากเป็นเพื่อนกับทุกคน แล้วตัวข้าก็ไม่มีฤทธิ์เดชพ่นไฟอะไรเลย ข้าเป็นมังกรใจดี น่ารัก ไม่เชื่อถามฮาโลดูสิ ฮือๆๆๆ”
“จริงเหรอฮาโล”
“จริงที่สุดเลยจอร์จ”
“ข้าเชื่อตามที่ฮาโลบอก ถ้าเจ้าไม่อยากสู้กับข้าก็ไม่ต้องสู้ แต่ชาวบ้านข้างล่างน่ะเขาไม่ยอมปล่อยให้ให้เจ้าอยู่อย่างสงบๆหรอก ทุกคนอยากเห็นข้าปราบเจ้าให้ได้ ไม่เชื่อถามฮาโลดูสิ”
“ข้าคิดแผนการออกแล้ว เจ้าทั้งสองต้องทำเป็นสู้รบกัน ส่วนตัวข้าจะวิ่งไปบอกชาวบ้านให้พวกเขาแห่กันมาดูเจ้าทั้งสองสู้กัน”
“ได้เลย”
เมื่อชาวบ้านได้ยินจากปากฮาโลว่าจอร์จกับมังกรกำลังสู้กัน จึงพากันวิ่งกรูมาที่ถ้ำ แต่เมื่อไปถึงก็เห็นเจ้ามังกรยืนอยู่ตัวเดียว ในรูจมูกมันมีไฟติดอยู่ ชาวบ้านหวาดกลัวกรีดร้อง
“เหยย ่น่ากลัวจังเลย”
“อ๊าย ดูสิมีไฟติดด้วย”
“ต้องพ่นไฟมาแน่เลย”
ทันใดนั้นจอร์จก็ปรากฎตัวขึ้น เขาขว้างทวนเล่มใหญ่ไปที่มังกร หลังจากนั้นก็มีควันขาวปรากฎคลุมไปทั่ว เมื่อควันจางลงก็เหลือจอร์จยืนอยู่คนเดียว เขายิ่งอย่างผู้ชนะ แล้วพูดว่า
“ในที่สุดข้าก็ปราบเจ้ามังกรได้แล้ว”
“ไหนล่ะเจ้ามังกรที่ตายแล้ว ไม่เห็นมีเลย พวกข้าอยากเห็นกับตาว่าเจ้ามังกรได้ตายแล้วจริงๆ”
“พวกเจ้าอยากให้เจ้ามังกรตายจริงๆเหรอ ข้าว่าไม่จำเป็นหรอก แค่เนี้ยเจ้ามังกรก็ได้บทเรียนแล้ว มันพร้อมจะกลับตัวเป็นคนดีแล้ว ไม่คิดร้าย ไม่ทำร้าย พ่นไฟใส่ใครอีกแล้ว ไม่เชื่อถามฮาโลดูสิ”
“ใช่ เจ้ามังกรสัญญาแบบนั้นจริงๆ แถมยังบอกว่าอยากจะเป็นเพื่อนกับทุกคนอีกด้วย เจ้ามังกรถึงแม้ว่าจะดูน่ากลัว แต่จริงๆแล้วน่ารักจะตาย”
“ข้าก็ว่าอย่างนั้นแหละ”
♫ หน้าตาน่ากลัวอย่างนั้น แต่งตัวโทรมๆแบบนั้น เขาต้องไม่ดีแน่เลย คนนั้นก็ว่าอย่างงั้น คนนี้ก็ว่าอย่างงี้ เขาต้องไม่ดีแน่เลย อย่าไปตัดสินคนที่ภายนอก ลองคิดๆดูให้ดี หากใครตัดสินเราที่ภายนอก เราก็คงไม่ชอบไม่ถูกใจ หน้าตาน่ากลัวอย่างนั้น ท่าทางแปลกๆแบบนั้น เขาต้องไม่ดีแน่เลย คนนั้นก็พูดอย่างงั้น คนนี้ก็พูดอย่างงี้ เขาต้องไม่ดีแน่เลย อย่าไปตัดสินคนที่ภายนอก ลองคิดๆดูให้ดี หากใครตัดสินเราที่ภายนอก เราก็คงไม่ชอบไม่ถูกใจ อย่าไปตัดสินคนที่ภายนอก รู้มั้ยว่ามันไม่ดี หากใครตัดสินเราที่ภายนอก เราก็คงไม่ชอบไม่ถูกใจ ก็คงจะทำให้เราไม่ถูกใจ เราก็คงไม่ชอบใช่มั้ย เราก็คงไม่ชอบไม่ถูกใจ ♫
“ถ้าพวกเจ้าสองคนยืนยันหนักแน่นว่าเจ้ามังกรกลับตัวเป็นคนดีแล้ว พวกเราก็จะไม่ทำร้ายและยอมเป็นเพื่อนกับเจ้ามังกร นี่แน่ะเจ้ามังกร คืนนี้ที่หมู่บ้านของเราจะมีงานเลี้ยงฉลองกัน เจ้าอยากจะมาร่วมงานมั้ยล่ะ”

In a mountain village, Halo's father was telling his son in an excited tone about the evil dragon.
“Halo, did you know that our village has many powerful, ferocious dragons living in mountain caves?”
“Really, father? And the dragon that you said was very big?
“Of course, it's huge and also very scary. It likes to spit fire to hurt people and has completely destroyed an entire city.”
“Have you ever seen it?”
“Haha, I've never actually seen it; I just heard some people talking. But it’s already scared me. If I saw a real one, I would faint right there.”
Halo decided to go and see the dragon for himself. So, the next day he went up the mountain.
Finally, he met a real dragon sitting in front of the cave. The dragon looked kind and smiling, not as scary as what his father had told him. So, he smiled and greeted the dragon.
“Hello, dragon, my name is Halo.”
“Wow, someone said hello to me first; I’m so glad.”

“Well, the villagers are afraid of you. They say that a long time ago, there was a wicked dragon that spewed fire until the whole city was destroyed. Luckily, there was a brave knight who defeated the dragon until he became powerless.”
“Not me. I never intended to hurt anyone; I would like to be friends with everyone.”
“Then I'm ready to be your friend, and you're willing to be my friend?”
“Of course, I've wanted a friend for a long time.”

The two then agreed to be friends, joking and talking to each other happily like they had known each other for a long time. Time passed in a flash of an eye, and it was evening. Halo then said goodbye to the dragon and returned home. But along the way, he couldn't help but tell the villagers about his new dragon friend until the story became known to the whole city. Everyone feared that the dragon would go on a rampage and spew fire at the city again. Therefore, an announcement was made to seek someone to subdue the dragon. Soon, a brave knight named George volunteered.
George was a brave man who had defeated many evil people and demons. He was armed with a large and strong spear. George hurried to tell Halo to take him to the dragon. On the way to the cave on the mountain, Halo tries to explain to George that the dragon was kind and never thought of hurting anyone.
But before long, Halo led George to the cave where the dragon lived.
“Hey, dragon. Don't just sit and hide. Come out and fight with me right now!”
“(sobbing) I don't want to fight with anyone. (sobbing) I want to be friends with everyone. I have no fire-breathing power. I'm a kind, sweet dragon. If you don't believe me, ask Halo (sobbing).”
“Really, Halo?”
“Yes, George.”
“I believe what Halo says. If you don't want to fight with me, don't. But the villagers in the village won't let you rest in peace. Everyone wants to see me defeat you. If you don't believe me, ask Halo.”
“I've figured out a plan. The two of you must pretend to fight. As for me, I'll run and tell the villagers, and they'll flock to see the two of you fight.”
“Sure!”
When the villagers heard from Halo that George and the dragon were fighting, they ran to the cave. But when they arrived, they saw the dragon standing by himself. There was a fire in his nostrils. The villagers were frightened and screamed.
