เรื่องราวของความสามัคคีระหว่างสัตว์ชราที่ถูกทอดทิ้งทั้งสี่ตัวทั้ง ไก่ ลา แมว และสุนัข ที่ต้องการเป็นนักดนตรี โดยใช้ข้อดีของแต่ละตัวเพื่อขับไล่โจรร้าย เรื่องราวจะเป็นอย่างไร ไปติดตามกันเลยค่ะ
ลาตัวหนึ่งทำงานแบกของหนักๆให้เจ้านายมาตลอดชีวิตเมื่อมันแก่ตัวลง เจ้านายจึงคิดจะขายมันให้คนอื่น
“เจ้าลาแก่เอ้ย ฟังข้าให้ดีนะ พรุ่งนี้ข้าจะเอาเจ้าไปขายให้พ่อค้าคนอื่นแล้ว นับวันเจ้าก็จะมีแต่แก่ลงๆ ไม่มีประโยชน์อะไรกับข้าอีกแล้ว”
“แต่ข้าก็ช่วยเจ้านายแบกของหนักๆมาตลอดชีวิตของข้านะท่าน”
“แต่ตอนนี้เจ้ามันแก่จนไม่มีเรี่ยวแรงจะแบกของหนักๆให้ข้าได้อีกแล้ว เลี้ยงไปก็เปลืองข้าวเปลืองฟางเปล่าๆ ขายเจ้าไปซะ แบ่งเงินมาซื้ออาหารอร่อยๆ กินดีกว่า ฮะฮะฮ่า”
เมื่อเจ้าลาได้รู้ความคิดของเจ้านาย คืนนั้นมันจึงแอบหนีเจ้านายออกเดินทางไปยังเมืองเบรเมน
“ข้าอยู่ที่นี่ต่อไปไม่ได้แล้ว ข้าไม่อยากไปอยู่กับเจ้านายใหม่ ข้าจะหนีไปเล่นดนตรีที่เมืองเบรเมน ตัวข้าพอจะเล่นกีตาร์เป็นกับเขาบ้าง อาชีพนักดนตรีน่าจะเหมาะสมกับลาแก่ๆอย่างข้าที่สุดแล้ว”

ระหว่างทาง เจ้าลาพบกับสุนัขล่าสัตว์วัยชรากำลังวิ่งหนีบางอย่างมา ที่ตัวมันมีบาดแผลถูกตี
“เจ้าสุนัขล่าสัตว์ เจ้าวิ่งหนีอะไรมา แล้วเจ้าถูกใครตีมาเนี่ย มาๆๆ มาหลบตรงนี้ก่อน”
“ช่วยข้าด้วย ช่วยข้าด้วย เจ้านายข้าเองที่วิ่งไล่ตีข้ามา”
“อะไรนะ เจ้าถูกเจ้านายตัวเองไล่ตี ทำไมล่ะ”
“ก็เพราะว่าข้ามันแก่จนไม่มีแรงจะวิ่งล่าสัตว์ให้เจ้านายแล้ว เจ้านายเลยคิดจะกำจัดข้า”
“โถ หัวอกเดียวกับข้าเลย เจ้านายข้าเขาก็ไม่ต้องการข้าอีกแล้ว ว่าแต่เจ้าพอจะตีกลองเป็นมั้ย”
“ข้าก็พอจะตีได้บ้าง แต่ไม่ค่อยเก่งหรอกนะ”
“งั้นไปเป็นนักดนตรีที่เมืองเบรเมนกับข้ามั้ย”
“ไปสิ ขอข้าไปด้วยคน”

สุนัขล่าสัตว์ตอบตกลง ทั้งคู่จึงออกเดินทางไปยังเมืองเบรเมน ระหว่างทางทั้งสองก็เดินมาพบแมวตัวหนึ่งกำลังวิ่งหนีบางอย่างมา ท่าทางมันดูท้อแท้ หมดเรี่ยวหมดแรง เจ้าลาเลยถามกับเจ้าแมวไปว่า
“เกิดอะไรขึ้นเหรอเจ้าแมว วิ่งหนีอะไรมา”
“ข้าวิ่งหนีเจ้านาย เขาไล่ข้าออกจากบ้าน เจ้านายบอกว่าข้าแกเกินจะจับหนูได้แล้ว อยู่ไปก็ไร้ประโยชน์”
“เอางี้ เจ้าพอจะเล่นไวโอลินเป็นมั้ย”
“ก็พอเล่นได้บ้าง แต่ไม่เก่งมากนะ”
“งั้นไปเป็นนักดนตรีที่เมืองเบรเมนกับพวกข้ามั้ย”

เจ้าลาจึงชวนแมวเข้าร่วมวงดนตรี เล่นไวโอลินที่เมืองเบรเมนด้วยกัน ทั้งสามจึงออกเดินทางอีกครั้ง ระหว่างทางได้พบพ่อไก่วัยชรา ที่กำลังส่งเสียงร้องขันด้วยความตกใจ เจ้าลาจึงตะโกนถามไปว่า
“เกิดอะไรขึ้นเหรอเจ้าไก่ เจ้าวิ่งหนีอะไรมา”
“ข้าวิ่งหนีเจ้านายที่พยายามจะเอาข้าไปทำเป็นอาหาร เจ้านายบอกว่าข้าแก่เกินจะขันเสียงดังแล้ว”
“เจ้าอยากจะเป็นนักร้องมั้ย เสียงดีๆขันเก่งๆแบบเจ้าเนี่ย มาเป็นนักร้องนำให้กับวงดนตรีของพวกเราเถอะ”
“ถ้าพวกเจ้าคิดว่าข้าเป็นนักร้องได้ ข้าก็ตกลง”
“งั้นเรารีบไปเมืองเบรเมนกันเลย”

แล้วทั้งสี่ก็ออกเดินทางไปยังเมืองเบรเมน ระหว่างทางต้องเดินผ่านป่าแห่งหนึ่ง พวกเขาเห็นแสงไฟอยูข้างหน้าริบๆ ด้วยความหิวจึงเดินตามแสงไฟไป จนพบกระท่อมหลังหนึ่ง เจ้าลาแอบดูข้างในก็เห็นบรรดาโจรโหดร้ายนั่งกินอาหารมากมายอยู่ที่โต๊ะ มันจึงหันมาพูดกับเพื่อนๆว่า
“ข้างในกระท่อมน่ะมีพวกโจรโหดร้ายนั่งกินอาหารที่มีอยู่มากมาย เห็นแล้วยิ่งหิวไปกันใหญ่เลยนะเนี่ย”
“แล้วทำยังไงพวกเราถึงจะกินอาหารที่อยู่ในกระท่อมนี้ได้ล่ะ”
“เราต้องทำให้พวกโจรตกใจกลัว วิ่งหนีอออกจากกระท่อมไป แล้วพวกเราก็จะได้เข้าไปกินอาหารแทนพวกโจรไง”
ทั้งสี่จึงวางแผนหลอกให้พวกโจรตกใจกลัว โดยให้สุนัขปีนไปยืนบนหลังลา ให้แมวยืนบนหลังสุนัข ให้พ่อไก่บินไปเกาะหลังเจ้าแมว ชะโงกไปตรงหน้าต่าง ขันออกมาดังสุดเสียง
♫ จะทำยังไงกับโจรพวกนี้ดี จะทำยังไงเอ้าใครรู้วิธี พวกโจรใจร้ายแบบนี้ต้องติดคุกสักสิบปี จะบอกแผนการที่มี แต่เป็นแผนการที่ดี จะหลอกเจ้าโจรพวกนี้ ให้กระเจิงหนีไป เอาเจ้าสุนัขขึ้นไปยืนบนหลังเจ้าลา ต่อตัวกันขึ้นไปทีละชั้น ส่วนเจ้าแมวนั้น ขึ้นไปบนหลังเจ้าสุนัขอีกที สุดท้ายก็เป็นพ่อไก่ ไปเกาะบนหลังเจ้าแมวอีกชั้น ชะโงกไปข้างหน้าต่างแล้วขันเสียงดัง เอ้กอีเอ้กเอ้ก ♫
เอ้กอีเอ้กเอ้ก
“เฮ้ย หัวหน้า นั่นเสียงอะไรอ่ะ น่ากลัวจังเลย อุ๊ย ข้ากลัว เผ่นก่อนล่ะ”
“เฮ้ย เฮ้ย เฮ้ย รอข้าด้วย อย่าทิ้งข้าอยู่คนเดียว ข้าก็กลัวเหมือนกัน”
“หึหึหึหึหึ พวกโจรมันตกใจกันกลัวเสียงไก่จนวิ่งหนีกระเจิงไปหมดแล้ว เร็ว รีบไปกินอาหารในกระท่อมกันเถอะ”
พวกโจรได้ยินเสียงประหลาดดังยามค่ำคืนก็ตกใจกลัว วิ่งหนีกระเจิงออกจากกระท่อมไป สัตว์ทั้งสี่จึงเข้าไปกินอาหารอย่างอร่อย เมื่อิ่มแล้วจึงดับไฟล้มตัวลงนอนด้วยความเหนื่อยล้า
“ที่กระท่อมเสียงเงียบลงแล้ว เจ้าลองย่องไปดูให้ข้าหน่อยสิ๊ว่าเสียงที่ได้ยินเมื่อกี๊มันเป็นเสียงอะไรกันแน่”
“จะดีเหรอลูกพี่ ข้าไม่กล้าไปหรอก ข้ากลัว ดึกดื่นป่านเนี้ย เสียงอะไรก็ไม่รู้”
“แต่ข้าเป็นหัวหน้าเจ้า เจ้าต้องเชื่อฟังคำสั่งของข้า กลับไปที่กระท่อมเดี๋ยวนี้”
ด้วยความกลัวหัวหน้าจะโกรธ ลูกน้องโจรจึงยอมกลับไปที่กระท่อม เมื่อไปถึงกระท่อมที่อยู่ในความมืด เจ้าโจรมองเห็นดวงตาแมวสะท้อน ดูเหมือนถ่านร้อนๆ จึงหยิบเทียนจิ้มลงไป หวังที่จะจุดไฟ
(เสียงแมว)
เจ้าแมวตกใจร้องและข่วนหน้าโจร โจรตกใจวิ่งหนีไปล้มใส่สุนัข ถูกสุนัขกัดที่ขา โจรวิ่งหนีสุนัขไปที่ส่วนหลังบ้านที่มีเจ้าลาแอบอยู่ มันกระโดถีบหลังโจรอย่างจังจนโจรล้มกลิ้งไปมา หลังจากนั้นโจรก็ได้ยินเสียงไก่ขันอย่างโหยหวนน่าสะพรึงกลัว
เจ้าโจรรีบวิ่งหนีกลับไปบอกหัวหน้าว่า
“หัวหน้าๆ ข้าเกือบจะตายแล้ว ข้าถูกแม่มดข่วนหน้า ดูสิเลือดซิบๆเลย ถูกงูยักษ์กัดขา ดูสิ แผลเบ้อเริ่มเลย ยังไม่พอยังถูกอสูรกายทำร้ายจนหลังแทบจะหัก และก่อนที่จะออกจากกระท่อมนั้นมาได้ ข้ายังถูกหลอกหลอนด้วยเสียงของปิศาจร้ายอีก โอ๊ย ข้ากลัวเหลือเกิน ฮือ ขืนพวกเรายังอยู่ที่นี่อีก ต้องถูกหลอกจนตายแน่ๆเลย”
“งั้นจะรออะไรกันอีกละ รีบหนีกันเร็ว ข้าววิ่งนำหน้าก่อนล่ะ”
“เฮ้ย รอข้าก่อนสิหัวหน้า”
“เห็นมั้ย ด้วยความสามัคคีของพวกเรา ใช้จุดดีของแต่ละคนมารวมพลังกัน จนในที่สุดก็ขับไล่พวกโจรให้หนีออกไปได้ ถึงพวกเราจะแก่แต่ก็แก่มีกึ๋นนะเนี่ย”

“ถ้างั้นพวกเราเลือกอยู่ที่กระท่อมหลังนี้กันเถอะ ไม่ต้องไปเป็นนักดนตรีที่เมืองเบรเมนกันแล้ว ดีมั้ยพวกเรา”

สัตว์ทั้งสี่ภูมิใจที่พวกมันรวมตัวกันใช้ข้อดีของแต่ละคนขับไล่โจรให้หนีไป ทั้งสี่ชอบกระท่อมหลังนี้มาก เลยตัดสินใจไม่ไปเป็นนักดนตรีที่เมืองเบรเมนแล้ว แต่จะใช้ชีวิตอยู่ด้วยกันในป่าแห่งนี้อย่างมีความสุขต่อไป

A donkey had spent all his life carrying heavy loads for his master, but as he got older, his master decided to sell him to someone else.
“Old donkey. Listen to me carefully. Tomorrow, I will take you to sell to another merchant. As the days go by, you will only grow older. You are of no use to me anymore."
“But I've been helping you carry heavy things all my life, sir.”
“But now you are so old that you no longer have the strength to carry heavy things for me. I’m wasting rice and straw to keep you. It’s better to sell you and use the money to buy delicious food. Hahaha."
When the donkey knew the thoughts of his master, he secretly fled that night and set off for the town of Bremen.
“I can't stay here any longer. I don't want to be with a new master. I'm going to escape to Bremen to play music. I can play the guitar somewhat. A music career would be most suitable for an old donkey like me.”

Along the way, the donkey met an old hound dog running away from something. He had wounds on his body from being hit.

“What? Were you beaten by your own master? But why?”
“Because I'm too old to run and hunt for my master. So, he was thinking of getting rid of me.”
“Oh, we are in the same boat. My master doesn't need me anymore. Well, do you know how to play the drums?”
“I can play a little, but I'm not very good at it.”
“Then will you join me as a musician in Bremen?”
“Sure, let me go with you.”

The hound dog agreed, and the pair set off for Bremen. On the way, they both came across a cat that was running away from something. He seemed discouraged and exhausted. The donkey then asked the cat,
“What happened, cat? What did you run away from?"
“I ran away from the master. He kicked me out of the house because he said that I was too old to catch mice. It was pointless for me to stay."
“So, are you able to play the violin?”
“I can play a little, but I’m not very good at it.”
“Then, will you join us as musicians in Bremen?”

The donkey invited the cat to join the band and play the violin in the town of Bremen. The three of them set off again. Along the way, they came across an old rooster who was crowing in shock. The donkey shouted and asked,
“What happened, rooster? What did you run away from?”
“I ran away from my master who tried to cook me. He said I was too old to crow loudly.”
“Do you want to be a singer? With such a good crowing voice, why don’t you be the lead singer of our band.”
“If you think I can become a singer, I accept.”
“Then let's hurry and continue to Bremen.”

Then the four animals set off for Bremen. On the way, they had to walk through a forest and saw a bright ahead of them. With hunger, they followed the light until they found a cabin. The donkey peeked inside and saw evil thieves eating lots of food at the table. So, he turned and said to his friends,
“There are savage thieves inside the cabin, eating large amounts of food. The more I see this, the hungrier I get.
“Then how are we supposed to eat the food in this cabin?”
“We must frighten the thieves and chase them away from the cabin. Then, we can go inside and eat instead of them.”
So, the four planned to frighten the thieves by having the dog climb up to stand on the donkey’s back, having the cat stand on the dog’s back, and letting the rooster fly to sit on the cat’s back and lean in through the window, crowing as loud as he could.
♫ What shall we do with these thieves? What to do, who knows how? Ruthless thieves like these should have to go to jail for ten years. We will tell you our plan. It’s a good plan. You will deceive these thieves into chasing them away. Have the dog stand on the donkey's back and stack each one of us on top. As for the cat, climb onto the dog’s back. Finally, the rooster goes and clings to the cat’s back. Lean forward and crow loudly. Cock-a-doodle-doo! ♫
“Hey boss, what's that noise? It sounded so scary. Oh no, I'm scared. I will leave first.”
“Hey, hey, wait for me, don't leave me alone. I'm afraid too.”
“Hehehe. The robbers are so frightened by the sound of the rooster that they have all scattered away. Hurry, let's go and eat the food in the cabin.”
The robbers heard strange noises in the night and were frightened. They ran away and scampered from the cabin. The four animals went in to eat the delicious food. When they finished, they put out the fire and lay down in exhaustion.
“The noise has quieted down at the cabin. Sneak up and see for me what kind of sound you heard earlier.”
“Are you sure, boss? I don't dare to go. I'm afraid. It's late at night. I don't know what sound that was."
“But I am your leader. You must obey my orders. Go back to the cabin now.”
Fearing the boss’s anger, the subordinate agreed to go back to the cabin. Upon reaching the cabin in the dark, the thief saw the cat's eyes reflected in the light, which looked like hot coals. So, he took a candle and dipped it in, hoping to light it.
(Cat meows)
The startled cat cried and scratched the thief’s face. The frightened thief ran away and stumbled on the dog. The dog bit his leg, and the thief ran away to the back of the house where the donkey was hiding. The donkey kicked his back so hard that the thief fell and rolled on the ground. After that, the thief heard a terrifying howl of a rooster crowing.
The thief hurriedly ran away and told his boss,
“Boss, boss, I almost died. A witch scratched me. Look at the blood! A giant snake bit me on the leg. Look, the wound is huge. As if that wasn’t enough, I was attacked by a monster until my back was almost broken, and before I could leave the cabin, I was haunted by the sound of the devil. Oh, I'm so scared. (Sobs) If we remain here, we will surely be scared to death.”
“Then what are you waiting for? Let’s escape quickly. I shall run ahead first."
“Hey, wait for me, boss.”
“See, with our unity and combining our strengths; we were finally able to chase the thieves away. Even though we are old, we still have guts.”

The four animals were proud that they had gathered together to use each other's advantages to drive the thief away. The four of them really liked this cabin and decided not to become musicians in Bremen but to continue living happily together in this forest.
